I gutted all but a handful of provinces from the provinces folder. Opening settings.txt because it has more options than the Video Options in the main menu, I set everything to “no” except terrain, borders, and tooltips. This iMac played 1 game year of EU3 W in under a minute.
25th Steam has a 50% off ($20) EU4 and better yet, let me download and play EU4 Apple’s store wouldn’t let me order EU4 so I gave up long ago.

At that point, the AI may have done the reasonable thing. I watched the invasion, and saw that the Spanish fleet was completely obliterated on their first invasion attempt at coastal England. The English fleet and the English defense armies had much better technology and morale and were ready to defend. This is similar to how it happened in history. At some point in the mid-16th century, the huge Kingdom of Spain (played by the AI) launched a massive armada to invade Protestant England. The player certainly has TONS of choices to make, and even little choices can alter the future history of the game (for example, it is possible for the Byzantine Empire to have defeated the early Seljuk/Ottoman Turks so that the Ottoman Empire never established a grand empire in Constantinople/Istanbul.)įor example, I once played a game as the Austrian Empire. This does not mean the games play exactly like a history book. Hundreds (thousands) of little events will "guide" the gameplay towards a generally historical outcome. The thing is I have a mac book pro 10.6.8, and I have downloaded the game from steam and got the mods from the workshop on steam. Anyway one of you could provide screen shots or give more detail, like step by step.

SOOOOO I am very frustrated and have no idea how to get these Mods to work.

That also did not work (though I am not very good with computers and just typed in exactly what was posted and was unsure which folder the mod had to be in for that to work). I even tried the "-mod=mod/MODNAMEHERE.mod" option as detailed above. I then moved it to the actual mod file in the library/application support/steam/SteamApps/common/Europa Universalis IV/mod file (there was even a text file there saying that the text file was made just to make sure the mod folder was made) Still IT DID NOT WORK THERE! I then tried to just put the zipped (not unzipped) file in both spots. I transferd the unzipped files into that folder with no success in finding the mods in game(or as an option when loading the game without steam using the icon on my desktop as mentioned above). (I may have added the MODS file to the civ 5 one so I just did that here). However this file in the Europa file did not have a MODS file. Where I had to extract the mod using Keka, then I had to move it from the strange file it sent the workshop mods to - library/application support/steam/userdata/61314729/ugc/referenced/MODE FILE HERE - after extracting it from that location I moved it to the Aspyr file located Username/documents/Aspyr/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/MODS - After installing europa IV, a Paradox Interactive file was created in the same Username/documents file under the Aspyr one. Can someone provide screen shots or something? I used a workaround for CIV 5 mods (for example).
